Toshiba Android Tablet Coming In Spring 2011

Toshiba is showing us to their new shiny gadget in the CES 2011. You guess what, it’s another Android tablet that I thought it would be a little bit too crowded right now.

Well, they’ve just unveiled another tablet for the market that looks pretty simple and plan. It’s running Google Android 2.2 OS, but Toshiba said that their Android tablet will get Google’s newest OS (Honeycomb) when it’s been launched later in this Spring season.

As the matter of specification, Toshiba Android tablet has 10-inch screen that support 1280×800 and powered by NVIDIA Tegra processor. If Google Android HoneyComb OS proved to require dual core CPU and high resolution display, then Toshiba’s Android tablet is fully prepared for the optimum performance. Read more of this post

Asus announces trio of Android tablets

Today Asus announced a trio of Android tablets powered by Honeycomb, which the company referred to as Android 3.0. All of the devices feature a large touch-screen, but that’s where the similarities end as Asus showed off some pretty wild designs.

Eee Pad MeMO

First we saw the MeMO which is a 7.1-inch tablet running a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It looked like your standard Android tablet, but this model came with a stylus for use with their paint and note taking apps.

The press kit we received did not include the detailed specs, but we were told the MeMO features dual-cameras, 1080p video playback, and a micro HDMI port.

The device will be available in June with prices ranging from $499 to $699. Read more of this post

Stream TV launches 7 new eLocity 10 inch tablets

Pennsylvania-based Stream TV Networks was one of the first US companies to bring a 7 inch Android tablet to market with an NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip and Android 2.2. It’s called the eLocity A7. Now the company is going all out and announcing the launch of 10 inch Android tablets… 7 of them.

All 7 will pack NVIDIA Tegra 2 chips and run Android Honeycomb with support for Adobe Flash. They’ll all have front-facing cameras and HDMI output, support for 1080p HD video playback, and microSD card slots for expansion.

What the company isn’t explaining yet is how the eLocity A10.1, A10.2, A10.3, A10.4, A10.5, A10.6 and A10.7 models will differ from one another. My guess is that we’re looking at different wireless capabilities, storage configurations, and possibly even screen technologies. Read more of this post

AOC’s 8-inch Breeze Android 2.1 tablet goes for broke, sells for $200

No money? No problem! The world of craptablets has grown significantly over the past dozen months, and you won’t find us encouraging anyone to add another to the pile. But AOC has actually managed to make a fairly decent name for itself over the years, albeit one in the LCD industry. In fact, this here company claims to be the world’s largest manufacturer of LED / LCD monitors, but it’s tough to say how that type of expertise will translate in the tablet arena. The newly launched Breeze bucks two screen size trends and splits the difference — there’s an 8-inch touchpanel here, complete with an 800 x 600 screen resolution and a row of physical keys along the right edge. You’ll also find a Rockchip processor, an outdated copy of Android 2.1, not to mention a USB 2.0 port, 3.5mm headphone, inbuilt speaker, 802.11b/g WiFi, 4GB of internal storage space, a microSD card slot and a battery that’s supposedly good for up to 12 hours of audio playback or (six hours of video). We’re still waiting to hear back on what type of CPU is under the shell, but for under $200, we’re going to hazard a guess that it’s not the quickest silicon in the shed. Anywho, it’ll be splashing down at “major retail chains” later this month, likely going toe-to-toe with Augen for your bargain-bin bucks.

Ramos Will Unveil Three New Tablets At CES 2011

Ramos will introduce the W10, W12 and W15 tablets at the upcoming CES 2011. The Ramos W10 features a Cortex A9-based SoC (System-on-Chip) with the Mali-400 3D graphics chip and a 512MB DDR2 RAM. The Ramos W12 features an A9 SoC with Mali-400 graphics and an 8-inch display screen at 4:3 aspect ratio. And finally, the Ramos W15 comes jam packed with the RK2918 Rockchip SoC and an 8-inch display screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Too bad, there is no info on pricing so far.

Sharp Galapagos tablets coming to America

Sharp recently introduces a line of 5 and 10 inch tablets in Japan. The Sharp Galapagos tablets are equipped with WiFi, 8GB of storage, and Google Android. What sets them apart from the crowd are their high resolution displays and Sharp’s digital content stores thanks to partnerships Sharp has worked out with eBook and magazine publishers.

Now it looks like Sharp plans to sell the Galapagos tablets internationally, starting in the US. Eventually they’ll be available in China, India, and other countries.

The 5.5 inch tablet has a 1024 x 600 pixel display while the 10.l8 inch model has a 1366 x 800 pixel screen. Most Android phones on the market today have 800 x 480 pixel or lower resolution screens, although we’re starting to see Android tablets with higher resolution displays.

There’s no word on the US pricing or launch details yet.

Dell Streak 7 rumored launching on January 19

Some salty scoop from the suburbs of Rumorville is saying that January 19 may just be the release date of Dell’s second Streak tablet, the recently-exposed Streak 7 which features a 7-inch touchscreen and runs Android (2.2 apparently).

Expected to be showcaed at CES 2011, Streak 7 uses a Gorilla Glass screen, features a front-facing camera, GPS, WiFi, and should rival Samsung’s Galaxy Tab which already sold over 1 million units.

Hannspree 10 inch Android tablet stops by the FCC

Hannspree has been showing off a 10 inch Android tablet for the past few months, promising the device would sport a 1GHz NVDIIA Tegra 2 CPU, 16GB of storage, HDMI output, and a 3500mAh battery. Now it looks like this tablet running Google Android 2.2 is one step closer to launching in the US.

The FCC has published documents related to the Hannspree HSG1164 tablet, including a user manual and some photos of the device’s insides as well as its exterior.

According to the user manual, the Hannspree tablet will have 512MB of RAM, a 1024 x 60 pixel capacitive multitouch display, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, a microSD card slot, mini HDMI port, and a mini USB port. It will weigh about 1.7 pounds.

The internal shots show a small circuit board which takes up just about a third of the space inside the tablet, while the battery uses most of the room, as is pretty much the norm on 10 inch tablets with ARM-based chips and decent batteries.

There’s no word on pricing or a US launch date yet.
